In this recording, Ronald Brautigam interprets two of Schubert's late piano masterpieces, the Sonatas D 959 and D 960. He performs on a fortepiano crafted by Paul McNulty, modeled after an 1819 instrument by Viennese maker Conrad Graf, similar to what Schubert might have used. This choice offers listeners an authentic sound experience, reflecting the tonal qualities familiar to the composer.
