Pierre Jodlowski’s Séries based on colors is an open collection of works for piano and electronics, currently consisting of six parts. Created over the course of nearly two decades, with intervals of several years, and for various occasions, these compositions are typically performed separately as independent pieces. However, pianist Małgorzata Walentynowicz suggested combining them into a cycle. This album is the result of over a decade-long collaboration between Pierre Jodlowski and Małgorzata Walentynowicz, who has been performing the pieces since 2011. (Monika Pasiecznik)
Felipe Lara: Chamber Works for Strings [Music] Spotify
Felipe Lara / Mivos Quartet
release date March 4, 2025 publisher: Kairos - 0022203KAI
Recording Date: 2019-2024
Recording Venue: Oktaven Audio, Mount Vernon, USA; Guarneri Hall, Chicago, USA
Release: March 2025

Felipe Lara’s Chamber Works for Strings redefines the ensemble as a resonating body, where strings become vocal cords and bows breathe sound into existence. In Corde Vocale and Tran(slate), the quartet is not a polite conversation but a raw, elemental force – organic, urgent, and monstrous. Sonare unfolds in processional waves, while Archi elastici stretches time to its breaking point, embodying breath itself. With Postcard and Prisma, Lara explores dialogue and divergence. Across these works, the voice – literal and metaphorical – becomes motion, tension, and transformation, revealing music as a vital, restless energy in perpetual evolution.

Klaus Lang: tönendes licht. [Music] Spotify
Klaus Lang / Wolfgang Kogert
release date Jan. 28, 2025 publisher: KAIROS - 0022056KAI
In tönendes licht., Klaus Lang imagines the Gothic cathedral as a resonating body shaped by the architectural principles of hierarchy and proportion. Performed by Wolfgang Kogert and the Wiener Symphoniker conducted by Peter Rundel, the work creates a unique interplay between the physical structure of the cathedral and the ephemeral presence of the music, evoking the medieval understanding of light and sound as pathways to the divine. Inspired by the ideals of Gothic art, Lang explores the concepts of unity and diversity through sound, blending the shimmering, warm golden orchestral tones with the metallic, silvery, and cold tones of the organ. The composition invites deep, contemplative engagement, where repetition and proportion open up new dimensions of perception – a sonic experience as timeless and profound as the architecture in which it is located.
